ACC donates Rs1 crore for Hamirpur synthetic track

Shimla: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal was presented a draft of Rs1 crore by Chief Executive North, ACC Company Rajiv Prasad as apart payment for the world class synthetic athletic track at Hamirpur.

Chief Minister thanked the ACC management for their generosity by contributing major share for the construction of a world class synthetic athletic track at Hamirpur, which had been estimated to cost Rs6.89 crore and provide facilities to organize nine types of sports events at the same venue.  He said that ACC company had promised to bear major share of the construction cost by donating Rs4 crore for laying the synthetic track at Hamirpur. He said that the company had deposited a sum of Rs1.25 crore so far. He also added that the procedural process for starting the work over the track was nearing completion so as to complete the construction work by end of current year.

Chief Minister said that the Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with two major cement companies, ACC and Ambuja Cements would be constructing two world class synthetic athletic tracks at Hamirpur and Dharamshala respectively.  He said that technical expertise would be provided by the department while the projects were being financed by the  cement companies.

He added that Ambuja Cements Limited had also committed to bear the cost of the proposed similar synthetic athletic track at Dharamshala for which the company would be paying Rs4 crore out of the total cost of Rs 6.93 crore.  He said that Ambuja Cements had also paid a sum of Rs75 lakh for the construction of synthetic track at Dharamshala, which too was likely to start construction on war footing.  He thanked both the cement companies for their generosity and hoped that more such companies would be coming forward to finance various other projects in the state.
