Congress to contest legal notice issued by government

Shimla: Congress party would reply in the court of law to the legal notice issued by Himachal Pradesh government. Stating this, state Congress spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathor in a press conference here on Saturday said that state government had issued a notice to him and a correspondent of daily vernacular for allegedly defaming state government in a news item published in the newspaper. He said that it is a preplanned conspiracy against the opposition and the media as both has raised the issues of fruit growers in the state.

“However, news was published in all the main newspapers but the government targeted a particular correspondent which indicates that government is trying to put restrictions on free media,” he said. “We will not reply to the notice and will fight it out legally,” he added. He said that congress welcomes the prize ‘State of states’ for overall performance given to Himachal Pradesh by a prestigious magazine. “It is matter of proud for people of Himachal but the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in state is trying to take whole credit for the achievement,” he alleged. He said that the credit for these achievements goes to the previous Congress governments of the state. He also alleged that the government is making various announcements keeping in view the coming Panchayati Raj Institution elections and is misleading the people of the states.
