Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Police would approach Interpol to sort out British charity worker Michael Blakey’s murder mystery.

According to DGP Daljeet Singh Manhas, they are seeking assistance from Interpol for getting extradition of prime accused Pawan Bhardwaj from Scotland. The accused, who is husband of Blakey’s colleague Rachel Owen, managed to immigrate to Scotland from Dharamsala soon after the crime.

The police recovered Michael Blakey’s body in a rivulet near an old Britisher Cemetery in Dharamsala in November 2006 and his autopsy reports had pointed out that he was murdered. Accepting shortcomings in the beginning of probe, the state police chief resolved to solve the case. Family members of the victim, especially his father Paul Blakey, have been charging the state police of failing to book the accused.

Police here have restarted the interrogation of people who were associated with Blakey during his stay here. Investigating officer DSP Dinesh Sharma claimed that police interrogated more than 20 suspects including family members of Bhardwaj. He also pointed out at Bhardwaj as prime suspect in the murder.

  1. It seems strange that the prime suspect was granted a spouse visa to immigrate to the UK…Let's hope the truth comes out finally, so Michael's family can get on with their lives.
