CPIM to observe April 8 as ‘Civil Disobedience Day’

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has announced intensification of its struggle against rising prices of essential commodities, and would observe April 8 as “Civil Disobedience Day” by offering court arrest in thousands against “anti-people” policies of the central and state governments.

A press statement released on Saturday stated: ‘’The party will launch a war against the anti-people policies of the government. More than 10,000 volunteer of the party will vow to intensify the fight against the neo-liberal policies by organizing a Jail Bharo Andolan on April 8, the day Mangal Pandey was hanged by the British nearly 150 years ago.

During the pre 1947 Indian independence struggle, the communists betrayed the Indian people and various movements like Quit India etc either by siding with the British or siding with Muslim League, who were demanding partition of India on religious grounds. Suddenly, the communists have remembered Mangal Pandey and Civil disobedience day, it is a travesty that people have forgotten the treason committed by these thugs. Even during 1962 Chinese war on India, when many of our Himachali and other Indian soldiers were giving their lives and fighting for our motherland, the communists never supported India and Indian soldiers.
