Planning Commission enhances HP Annual Plan by Rs 300 cr

Shimla: The Annual Plan for Himachal Pradesh for the year 2010-11 has been fixed at Rs 3,000 crore, Rs 300 crore more than the previous year. Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Ahluwalia pointed out that the state government should focus on improving tourism and horticulture as the sectors have immense revenue generation potential. He also appreciated efforts to encourage organic farming.

The Plan outlay of Himachal Pradesh will have top priority for social services sector and 33.69 per cent of funds would be allocated. This would include funds for creation of infrastructure and health sectors to bring quality improvement in delivery system.

Transport and communication sectors with 19.63 per cent allocation would be on the next priority list. The allocation under this sector also highlights the resolution of State Government to expand the rail infrastructure by meeting the State share provision of Bhanupalli – Bilaspur Rail line.

The 3rd priority goes to the ‘energy Sector’ by making a provision of Rs.354.37 crores (11.81%). This includes loan of Rs.190.00 crores and equity of Rs.100.00 crores to 4 ADB assisted projects allotted to H.P. Power Corporation Limited.
