Police ask report on unregistered Tibetans in Dharamsala

Dharamsala: The Union home ministry has asked the Tibetans government to carry out census of its citizens staying in India. Besides, the Himachal Pradesh police has sought a report on Tibetans staying in Dharamsala without registration.

Keeping in view the recent arrest of an alleged Chinese spy from McLeod Ganj, the state police has increased its surveligence in the area. An under secretary level officiel from Delhi on Monday held talks with the Tibetan governent in this regard to explain the seriousness of the matter. LAter he also net the district police officials to take stock of the police preparedness. It may be mentioned that there are around 16,000 registered Tibetans in Dharamsala, while security agencies claim that the actual figure is much higher.
