Himachal may create separate ‘investigative’ cadre

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government would explore the possibilities of creating a separate investigative cadre in State Vigilance and CID Wings of the police. This was revealed by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal at the review meeting of the State Vigilance Department here today.

The Chief Minister said that the Vigilance and CID were vital investigative wings of the state police, responsible to keep an eye over the activities of suspicious characters in the society and keep the state government informed of various incidents taking place in different parts of the state. He said with the change in the investigation methods all over the world, need had surfaced to create a separate cadre of investigating officers in the state police as well to keep pace with the modern trends. He said that the state government would explore the possibilities by identifying the capable police personnel to take over the responsibility of vigilance and CID enquiries and work strictly in professional manner to achieve the objective so that all cases registered with it were brought to the logical conclusion and justice delivered to the aggrieved parties.

Chief Secretary Asha Swaroop underlined the need for fixing a time frame for delivering service to the people and best use of the information technology made to achieve the objective. She said that the entire land record was likely to be computerised in coming couple of months and e-services made available to the public on demand. She said that to check corruption electronic money transfer practices needed to be adopted by every government department. She added that third party audit system into all the projects also needed to be encouraged so that an eye was kept over such activities.
