Good news for small-time artisans tucked away in oblivion has come in form of opportunity to showcase their products at Delhi Haat. The rural artisans and their handicrafts are facing tough time in the days of competition from chic plastic and artificial wares, in wake of this Handloom and Extension Service Centre, Dhalpur, and Director Handicrafts and Development Commission are giving them an opportunity to display their talent in the national capital’s craft and tourism centre- Delhi Haat.
The artisans have been asked to give their applications for it and the decision on the ones who would participate would be based on law. Department spokesperson stated that the artisans should be registered with the handloom and handicrafts office and should not have sold their products at Delhi Haat since the last six months.
Those selected would be given stalls at Delhi Haat from October 21 to April 2009. In the past there had been strong demands from the artisans for market space for showcasing their products.
