Shimla: In a move that is sure to upset Congress’ political arithmetic for the upcoming assembly polls in Himachal, the BJP today fielded Congress’ DCC President of district Mandi, DD Thakur, from Mandi Sadar constituency.

After former central telecom minister Sukh Ram said good bye to politics this year, the Congress understandably, thriving on the politics of lineage, had given ticket to his son and former MP, Anil Sharma. DD Thakur today filed his nomination on BJP’s ticket. With this, the BJP sprung a surprise on the last day of filing nominations, as earlier, it had fielded a youngster – Praveen Sharma from the constituency.

According to reports coming in from the Congress workers at the grassroots, DD. Thakur is said to have always held the Congress banner even in difficult times, yet the party failed to honour his feelings.

The BJP Chief, Jai Ram Thakur is said to have struck his crucial deal with Thakur for this seat. Poll analysts believe that the Congress would certainly get affected negatively with a shift in majority of votes in Thakur’s favour.
Meanwhile, the Congress too changed its candidate from Gangath. It has fielded Krishan Kumar in place of Bodh Raj. The BJP too has replaced its woman candidate from Nurpur. Desraj, who is said to be a Shanta Kumar loyalist replaces Anita Dhiman.
