Erstwhile British capital to be beautified with Rs 70 Crore

Shimla (Nov 09) The erstwhile British capital town would be beautified with plan size of Rs 70 Crore as state government has decided to constitute a high level committee to explore the possibilities for implementation of a Beautification Plan.

A state government spokesman said here today that plan would be drawn by the Municipal Corporation, Shimla in technical consultancy of M/S Ramky Enviro Engineers.

Shimla is a renowned international tourist destination and has many historic monuments and buildings which attract lakhs of tourists from all walks of life each year. This plan would further boost its tourism potential.

The Youth of the town remain unaware of it’s history, therefore the government is trying to develop a  new high end tourism plan ‘Har Ghar Kuchh Kehta Hai’ narrating stories related to different historic buildings.

State Government had been executing different plans to develop and beautify the town to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the town from time to time.  He said that an elaborate Beautification Plan had been prepared by the Municipal Corporation to execute the same in phased manner so that the face of the entire town was lifted.

New plan has envisioned development of parks, parking slots, landscaping, street scaping, residential parks, sports stadiums and gymnasiums etc. to cater to the requirements of the area specific aimed at decongesting the old town and cater to the requirements of the local communities besides creating attractions for the visitors.
