A candle march was organised on the eve of World Earth Day in Shimla on Monday evening. Nearly 200 people took out a procession with unlit candles on the Mall Road and the Ridge to commemorate the Earth Day, sending across a message of pollution free environment. The candle march was a joint initiative of Times of India and NGO Sparsh. Taruna Mishra from Sparsh said, “Through the unlit candles we intend to convey a message of smoke free environment. The idea is that a single candle also produces a lot of pollution, therefore it is time for gearing up individual efforts for reducing pollution”.
