Shimla: The State Election Commission, Himachal Pradesh, has notified the election programme for conducting by-elections to fill up the vacant seats in Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in the state. Nomination papers will be filed on 11th, 12th and 15th October, 2007 (between 10 am and 3 pm). Nomination papers for the office bearers of gram panchayats, panchayat samitis and zila parishads will be filed before the officers appointed by the District Election Officers.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on 16th October, 2007 from 10 am onwards, while withdrawal of candidature will be allowed on 18th October, 2007 (between 10 am and 3.00 pm. The polls, if necessary, will be held on 28th October, 2007 (Between 8 am and 4 pm) and counting of votes will be taken up immediately after the close of the poll on the same day at the gram panchayat headquarters. Counting of votes for members of panchayat samitis and zila parishads will be taken up on 30th October, 2007 at the respective block headquarters.
